Washington State's Calvin Armstrong Quotes,
Philadelphia Eagles 2005 5th Round draft pick
April 24, 2005
On what it felt like being drafted by the Eagles: "It's
a real exciting moment for me. They have so many good players
there, obviously with them being in the Super Bowl last year.
I'm just looking to come in and give any contributions I can
to the team and hopefully make the team. That's first in order
for me is to make the team. Hopefully whenever I get out there,
I want to meet the guys, meet the coaches, and see what I
can do for the team. And hopefully I can do well out there.
I'm excited."
On whether he has a preference playing the left or right tackle
position: "No not really. At this point I'm just looking
to go wherever I can fit in. I probably play a little bit
better at left tackle, but I'll play either one. I'm pretty
adept at both positions."
On whether the coaches have given him an indication of what
his role might be in Philadelphia: "No. I haven't gotten
a chance to talk to the coaches that much yet. I don't know.
He [Coach Andy Reid] said he's excited to have me and he thinks
he can coach me up. I guess that's good. I'm just excited
that somebody wanted me and I'm going to do everything I can
to help the team."
On whether the main thing he's looking for is just an opportunity
to show what he can do: "That's exactly what I want to
do. I'm just trying to get out to the city and figure out
my way around. Hopefully I'll be there as long as I can. It's
just a great opportunity for me to go to a really good team
with so many great players. They win a lot of football games
and that's what I'm all about, just winning football games."
