JOHN ROMERO
OL | (6-2 3/4, 315, 5.3e) | California
by Pro Football Weekly Drafted by: Philadelphia, Pick 26, Round
6 , Overall 192
Notes:
Redshirted in 1995. Tried on both lines in '96. Stayed on offense
in '97 and started four games at guard. Started all 11 games at
center in '98. Missed spring drills in '99 after having shoulder
surgery and was slowed almost the entire year by various injuries.
Positives:
Good size and upper-body strength. Was a pretty solid Pacific-10
center in '98 who looked like he could become a prospect with a
little more experience. Showed some signs of bouncing back to form
in the East-West Shrine game.
Negatives:
Very disappointing senior season. Did not look very quick or athletic
and may have been too heavy. Gets too upright and will lose leverage.
Plays top-heavy at times. Does not seem to adjust to movement very
well.
Summary:
Was a much better player in '98 than in '99, but injuries
may have been the problem.
